FOREWORD
Diagnosis leads to discovery of, not just nonfunctional systems in our bodies, but also the discovery of systems that have full and partial functional capacities as well. In Christendom, if these diagnoses are not hinged on Jesus, the Christ, then the results may be inconclusive and unreliable.
At the heart of the creation story is the fact that, God gave man dominion over all the things He spoke into being (Genesis Chapter 1 and 2). Man had life in fullness and lacked nothing. The connection between God and man was seamless. Let us remember that “seamless” does not mean inseparable. In the slumber of man, we exchanged long life for pain, hardship and death. The days of man became numbered and has remained numbered, since. Israel did slide so many times, but as many times as they returned to God with a repentant heart and beseeched the Mercy Throne of God, they were revived (Exodus 32). God revived Israel and made them new on account of the genuineness of their cries for redemption. Psalm 86 recounts the prayer of David for revival and restoration. These tell us that, the only source of hope for the many who have their hope on God is to return to him holistically.
The theme for this year’s congress could not have been any less appropriate for the times we find ourselves. Indeed, “Revive Us Again, O Lord! Heal and Restore Us!!”-Exodus 15:26. In our current dispensation where the church is gradually seizing to be a shelter of hope for the marginalized and the destitute, but rather a place for individual gratification, adulteration of God’s Word for personal gains, we cannot not ask for healing and restoration. This healing and restoration can happen only to people who are willing to dip seven times in the Jordan River. By implication, cautious efforts to stay online for Christ and an eagerness to spread the gospel to others, especially for those who have strayed from their first love is key to our revival, healing and restoration.
My fellow EPSU members we need to move from the “corners of complain” to the “visible plains of change”, where we can make a difference. We have consistently done same things hoping for change and better results, but “hey”, it is time to be unconventional. It is not by accident we are members of the E. P. Church-Ghana. It has always been God’s plan from the days of old. We have a role to play, which is why we are here. We have a transformation, revival, healing and restoration process to initiate, champion and complete. We need to justify our worth by making the most out of the little we are given in order to get more and more “play time”.
To our parents (the mother church), we extend this humble reminder saying, a king or queen is natured from childhood and not at coronation. We are worth more than you think we are. Allow us the opportunity to explore and guide us when we make mistakes. Only then will the full potentials of the youth of this church be unearthed and strengthened, and the light of the future candles lit for growth and development. Our weak limbs cannot continue fighting your mighty arms just to show what we are worth for the today and future of our church. Rather, we in your palms, is the confidence we need to make exploits you will be proud of.
Social life and family values stand threatened in the face of the forceful drive of the “LGBTQ+” community, ever increasing economic hardship, destruction of our land and water bodies through illegal mining, breakdown in moral standards and the ever increasing crime rate among the youth among others. Let us go back to the days of communal ownership, communal correction and communal vigilance, where we say “our children”, “our land” and our nation, and not “my children”, “my land” and “my nation”. We can be different like Joseph, Daniel, Shadrack, Meshach, Abednego and above all, Joshua.
Therefore “Choose you this day whom you will serve…but as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord, our God (Joshua 24:15).
We can create a better society, a better EPSU, a better E. P. Church, a better body of Christ and invariably, a better nation and world. God be our helper.
