EPSU NATIONAL PRESIDENT’S GOODWILL MESSAGE TO ‘TERNET’

GOODWILL MESSAGE BY MR. PATRICK DODZI SENOO (EPSU NATIONAL PRESIDENT) TO THE EVANGELICAL PRESBYTERIAN STUDENTS’ UNION – TERTIARY NETWORK (EPSU TERNET) ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR 16TH DELEGATES CONFERENCE.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

This is the day the LORD has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it. I bring you warm greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for whose mercies we are called the children and partakers of His kingdom.

I am grateful to the Almighty God for the opportunity to share with you this goodwill message on this special occasion of your 16th Delegates Conference being held in Ho, precisely the Ho Technical University. I pray and hope my few words find you well and impart you greatly.

EPSU has and continues to serve as an avenue for the mobilization of a large nugget of the church’s youthful population, which would have been thrown into the current wave of religious pluralism flurrying over the nation. Council would like to appeal to all to do a lot more on the development of our beloved union and make positive contributions towards the growth of our institutions/sectors and the E. P. Church at large.
I want to say kudos to the leadership for this timely theme; “BUILDING THE CHURCH THROUGH YOUTH LEADERSHIP” It is indeed a theme worth discussing during a period where every church is giving more opportunities to its youth.

Today, the level of competition among campus churches to reach and attract the younger generation of churchgoers has become great and the E. P. Church cannot be left out of this mission. Building a strong church through youth leadership will require more effort than denominational loyalty which has helped over the years. The survival of the church can no longer depend on that. The opportunities we have sought over the years are being given but how have we utilized the few given? The vital question remains ‘HOW READY ARE WE?’ ‘HOW PREPARED ARE WE?’ A question we should be able to answer before we depart from this conference grounds.
Building the church through youth leadership will require all of us by collective efforts to identify our capacities, get the required knowledge and required skills, and present ourselves for those opportunities to build our beloved church. Also remember, you cannot build without God. You need him, I need Him and we need Him.

I won’t pretend there are no challenges but may we challenge ourselves with this quote from the 30th President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge – “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.”

Together we will and with the help from the Almighty, we will build the EPCG to last.

My thoughts and prayers are for God to see you through this conference successfully with all your expectations met to the glory of God. I wish you all the very best and have fruitful deliberations.

Thank You and God Bless Us All!!!
